Welcome to the Tong Tattler, a publication long consigned to history, myth, and legend, which is where certain people asked me to keep it, sorry Reggie ! Now resurrected and re-born for 2004 it’s aim is to keep you the players and members of Tong Sports and Social Club informed about the comings, goings, and general tittle tattle at Tong Cricket Club and The Greyhounders Football Club. Contributions are very welcome, whether it be a serious notice, a bit of harmless gossip, or just a good tip ! Get involved, it’s your club, and your publication ! Enjoy Damian	Winter League, Nets, and Next Year ! The winter indoor league is quickly drawing to a close with the last round of games to be played December 17th at the Yorkshire Cricket Centre at Headingley. Some mixed results have seen both sides struggle to adapt to a very different kind of cricket ! Star performers have included the Dey brothers Jon and James, Andy ‘Tuffers’ Allan, Johan Celliers, and Steve Tankard but to name a few. The basic concept of not running each other out seems to have escaped the sides at times, and Nick Dee has taken the art of running himself out to new heights !! The point was to keep some interest going in the winter months, and it has been a great success on that front, it’s been fun as well as surprisingly competitive. All concerned are keen to enter next year, and hopefully a few more will come along in 2004. Everybody playing in the indoor league has commented on how much they are looking forward to netting on the surface at Headingley. The set up is first class and our thanks go out to the committee for their efforts in allowing us to net there from January. Nets start January 29th (Thursday) at 8.00pm, there is a small fee, but we hope as many players as possible come along and get themselves in good nick in time for April ! Speaking of next year, we all need to be recruiting for all teams. So if you know any good cricketers or just good people, who fancy a go we have a team to suit them ! Race Night January 31st 2004 Once again ‘Kinder’ and ‘Beaky’ are hard at work organising a top nights entertainment, don’t miss it ! Race, and Horse sponsors required, as well as jockeys anyone interested in sponsoring or tickets for the event should contact a committee member.
Christmas Raffle Tickets are out now at £1 each, prizes include holidays, red letter days, TV’s, a DVD player, and all sorts of goodies. Ticket sellers are urgently required, please call a committee member for tickets, and if you can’t sell some please buy some ! Draw to be made Christmas Day at 2.00pm in the ‘Hound’ Good Luck
